Longquan Sword

Dragon Spring Sword

Blade quenched by Ouyezi in the Dragon Spring, where a dragon appeared at its forging.

Longyuan, renamed Longquan to avoid the taboo of the Tang founder’s name, is the sword Ouyezi quenched in the waters of Dragon Spring. When the blade entered the spring, a dragon is said to have appeared and coiled at the bottom; the place took its name from the miracle. Longquan remains China’s most famous sword-making town.
