River god Fengyi who rides a white dragon over the nine streams of the Yellow River.

Hebo, whose personal name is Fengyi, is the god of the Yellow River, riding a white dragon over its nine branches. Drowned in the river, he became its spirit, and the old tale of “marrying a bride to the River God” tells how magistrates once fed the river to spare their people — until the trickster Ximen Bao ended the custom. He appears again in Zhuangzi, proud in autumn floods until he beholds the sea.
