The legendary archer who shot down nine of the ten suns and slew the monsters plaguing the world.

Hou Yi is the greatest archer of Chinese myth. When ten suns rose together and scorched the earth, Yi shot down nine of them, then slew the monsters Yayu, Nine Babies and the Giant Boar, bringing joy to the people. Later tradition made him the husband of Chang'e, deepening his tragic heroic tale.
