Legendary progenitor of the Chinese people who defeated Chi You at Zhuolu and unified the tribes of the Central Plain.

The Yellow Emperor Huangdi is the legendary ancestor of the Chinese people and the victor of the great wars that united the tribes. He defeated the Flame Emperor at Banquan and Chi You at Zhuolu, aided by the rain goddess Nüba and the winged dragon Yinglong. Myth credits him with countless inventions, from the compass chariot to clothing, writing and the calendar.
