Lan Caihe is the singing beggar of the Eight Immortals, clad in tatters and one shoe, tapping a clapper and chanting verses of impermanence. Generous with alms and careless of weather, he finally ascends on a crane in a wine shop. Androgynous and timeless, he is the band’s poet of freedom.
