Li Jing began as a Tang general, but in fiction he became the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King, commander of heaven’s armies and father of Nezha. He carries the seven-jeweled pagoda that can seal demons — and, in the oldest tales, his own rebellious son. Between duty to heaven and love of family he stands at the center of the celestial court’s most human drama.
