Tudigong

Earth God

Benevolent local deity of each village and field, the most approachable spirit in folk religion.

Tudigong, the Earth God, is the guardian of each village’s fields and lanes, descended from the ancient sacrifice to the god of the soil. Small and close at hand, his shrine sits under a tree at the edge of the village, blessing harvests and household peace. Of all the gods he is the most familiar neighbor.
