Dijiang

Dijiang

Hundun · Chaos

A formless god-bird like a yellow sack, blazing red, with six legs and four wings, who knows song and dance yet has no face — the mythic image of Chaos.

The Shanhaijing says on Tian Mountain "there is a god shaped like a yellow sack, red as blazing fire, with six legs and four wings, formless and faceless, who knows song and dance — Dijiang." In Zhuangzi's fable, Chaos died when friends drilled the seven orifices into him, teaching that primal wholeness must not be violated.
