Dragon-headed winged beast that takes in but never lets out, beloved for attracting wealth.

Pixiu is a winged beast with a dragon’s head and a lion’s body, sometimes divided into the male Pi and the female Xiu. Because legend says it swallows treasure and never lets it out, it has become the most beloved guardian of wealth in Chinese popular culture — carved in jade, hung at doors and placed on desks to draw fortune in and keep harm away.
