Dark ox-like man-eater of Mount Li whose cry sounds like a baby’s.

Xiqi is the dark ox of Li Mountain in the central Shanhaijing, black-bodied, crying like an infant, and feeding on people. Like Mafu it borrows a baby’s cry; the text seems fascinated by predators that sound like the most helpless of creatures.
