Giant serpent of Dongting cut in two by Houyi, whose bones became a mound in legend.

Xiushe is the long serpent of Dongting that Houyi cut in two. Its bones piled into a mound, which later tradition identified with the hill of Baling — giving a place-name to the hero’s last great hunt.
